YUVA presents ‘Changing Cities’
A Photography Competition of our Urban Festival ComplexCity

Theme

India’s cities pulsate with energy. They are also constantly changing. What speaks to you about the city’s evolving nature?

Youth for Unity and Voluntary Action (YUVA) is proud to announce its annual ComplexCity photography competition, ‘Changing Cities’. What is that one evocative image which comes to your mind, that captures how the city is changing. This could be in terms of infrastructural development, climatic impact, urbanisation, health, ecology, how people live or any others. Send us your best single shot on this theme, be featured alongside the city’s most creative photographers and win prizes!

Rules

Eligibility Criteria

This competition is open to all Indian nationals.
Professional and amateur photographers can apply.
All participants must be above 18 years of age.
YUVA has the right to disqualify any submission if it violates standards of decency and is not aligned to the goals of the competition and that of the organization.

Photo Specifications

Photographs taken via smartphones will be accepted.
Photos must be in JPG or JPEG format, with 72dpi resolution. Ideally, the photo dimensions should be 1024×768 pixels.
The photograph submitted should be between 3MB and 10MB.
Basic photo editing is acceptable (including colour enhancement, the use of filters, and image cropping) as long as it does not affect the authenticity and genuineness of the photo.
Advanced editing used to create illusions, deceptions and/or manipulations, and the addition and/or removal of significant elements within the frame is prohibited.
The photo submitted should not have a border, logo, any copyright marks, identification marks, or any other visible references and/or marks.
A written consent from the parent or guardian of the child must be attached with the photograph if capturing the images of children below 18 years whose identities have been disclosed through the photograph.

Legal and Copyright Issues

By submitting the photograph, you acknowledge that you are the sole copyright owner of the work. It must be an original shot, created and/or taken by you. The photo must not contain any materials owned or controlled by a third-party. Participants will be disqualified if they do not adhere to this rule.
The photographer will be credited wherever the picture is used.
The organizer reserves in perpetuity the non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, make public, publicly transmit, display, print, distribute entries with the credit titles on websites and public social networking service accounts, in photo exhibitions, and in the facilities it owns, both during and after the competition.
The photographer agrees to take responsibility for any legal issue arising out of the work and all costs that could be incurred in the process.

Competition Criteria

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

Understanding of the topic
Relevance of the image to the topic
Creativity
Quality of the photograph

Submission Details

All entries must be emailed to learning@yuvaindia.org by 20 April 2023.
In the subject line of the email mention <Photography Competition_your full name>
The photo you submit must be accompanied by a caption (5-10 words), a photo description (upto 100 words, mentioning why you shot this image), and the name of the device you shot it on. Add the caption, photo description and device name in the email body under the headings: ‘Caption’, ‘Photo Description’ and ‘Shot on’. Photographs submitted without these three details will be disqualified.
Only shortlisted entries will be contacted.
Have more than one image to share? Post it on your social media account (Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram) with the hashtag #ComplexCity and tag us (@yuvaindia84 for Facebook, @officialyuva for Twitter and Instagram).

Awards

Once the judging process is over, winners will be notified via phone/email.
Top three winners will receive vouchers of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000
All participants will receive certificates.
