Making Mumbai is ComplexCity’s youth convention, attracting a strong crowd of youth annually. It focuses on bringing young people together from across the city, to share campaigns and initiatives they have led in the past year, and help them forge stronger connections to drive city-level change in the upcoming year.
Two curated walks are organised via the festival, to showcase narratives of the city through the voices of young leaders. In the basti (informal settlement) of Ambujwadi, Malad, members of the youth collective Malvani Yuva Parishad showcase housing and identity journeys, whereas in the rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) colony of Lallubhai Compound, Mankhurd, children’s collective Bal Adhikar Sangharsh Sangathan members share stories of growing up in the city and leading change. Sign up for upcoming walks here.
Youth in the city from diverse backgrounds present one-act plays, developed and conceptualised by them, depicting slices of life in the city. Baaton Mein presents life in all its nuances, especially from the lens of young people in the city. It shares moments from their relationships with parents, friends, partners, and more!
Given Mumbai’s development trajectory, there has often been large-scale displacement, especially of Mumbai’s slum residents, to rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) colonies.
